Time To Migrate

TCR at present (and for some time) has been undergoing the process of a total site “migration” which means that our entire site is being moved into a new version of our existing content management system. This is not an upgrade “upgrading” is a fairly simple process compared to this challenge to “migrate” an entire site. We are however pleased to say that we are taking full advantage of this challenge by using it as an opportunity to upscale our existing site and to bump up the overall appearance of our existing site by stepping up the design overall. In short we have turned this very trying situation into an opportunity to take our site to the next level. In all reality that should be the experience of each of us as children of God to accept what comes our way and step up, shine, and grow spiritually from it. Our “go live” date for the enhanced site is set for the first week of March 2012.

TCR is glad to report that we are currently averaging 50 visits per day with a little under half that number as first time visitors. The most popular content on the site remains the preaching content. With thousands now sharing in TCR's helps, tools and resources we are encouraged to continue on with this global outreach effort. If you like what TCR is doing then please share our web address with your family, friends and local church, etc. Now it is easier than ever to stay informed of new content before it is posted by following us on Twitter. Help us improve our ranking by liking us on Facebook.

Please also consider donating to this ministry with a one time gift or contributing regularly on a monthly basis. Remember that TCR is funded soley by like-minded Christians and local churches. From all of us here at The Christian Resource thank you!

The brother of a close personal friend was on the other end of the line. Chris was not able to make the call. He was still in shock at the news of his second born child. Serious birth deformities prompted the doctor to ask the camcorder to be turned off and the father to step aside. I hung up the phone and began to get dressed. My wife, still in shock at overhearing the call, asked what I would do. “I don’t have very many friends,” I said, “I’m going to take care of the ones I’ve got.” Two and a half hours later, I was walking down the hallway of a hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.

I have no regrets about getting out traveling that night. Chris and I did not even talk a whole lot after I got there. We just waited, mostly. That little boy would pass away some months later, in the arms of his mother while she sat helplessly in their quiet home in Albertville.

Chris was not any stranger to death. When I first met him, he had just lost his first wife to cystic fibrosis. Years later, we would talk extensively about...
